  8.    One of the new features introduced by WordPerfect in version
  9.    6.0 for DOS is the ability to handle scalable fonts without
  10.    relying upon an external third party program.  For the first
  11.    time many of us were able to produce documents with class since
  12.    we no longer had to rely upon the handful of fonts built into
  13.    our printers.  Acquiring additional fonts from various outlets,
  14.    in a short time the number of fonts I had available was getting
  15.    into the hundreds.  Soon I was asking myself,   "Which font
  16.    should I use in this situation?  Is this the font which looked
  17.    good on screen but terrible when printed?  What does this font
  18.    REALLY look like?"

  20.    FONTKAT is designed to create a custom catalog of your fonts,
  21.    whether native printer fonts or the variety of scalable fonts
  22.    now supported by WordPerfect.  With the printed catalog showing
  23.    samples of all your fonts you will be able to quickly and
  24.    easily choose the font which is just right for the job at hand.

  26.    Users are in complete control over which fonts are cataloged. A
  27.    list of available fonts is displayed and the user marks only
  28.    those they want cataloged.

  30.    Users have two options available for the text to be used in
  31.    sampling each font. If you like things kept simple, you can
  32.    tell FONTKAT to just use the name of the font itself to
  33.    illustrate the font. FONTKAT can also use the phrase "This is a
  34.    sample of " followed by the font name as the text to illustrate
  35.    the font. Of course, users also select the point size to use
  36.    for the font samples.

  38.    The printed catalog shows what the fonts REALLY look like.

  40.    Registered users receive the greatly enhanced registered
  41.    version of FONTKAT  with registration reminders removed, 2
  42.    bonus macros, free technical support, notification of upgrades,
  43.    with discounts for registered users, and a clean conscience,
  44.    since you will have paid for software you use.

  46.    The enhanced registered version of FONTKAT includes several
  47.    additional options for the text to be used in sampling each
  48.    font (including the alphabet, one of a host of phrases provided
  49.    or one of your own, or multinational character samples),
  50.    additional options for marking or unmarking the fonts to be
  51.    cataloged, a configuration file to speed things  up, the
  52.    ability to stop the cataloging process and finish that catalog
  53.    later, and the ability to start printing your font catalog as
  54.    soon as it  has been created.  Two additional macro programs
  55.    are also included. KATPRINT simplifies the process of printing
  56.    existing font catalogs created with FONTKAT.  FONTMAP creates a
  57.    useful keyboard map to your international/symbol/dingbat fonts
  58.    simplifying the use of such fonts.
